I am a big fan of this product. We used to have raccoons rummaging through our garbage cans at night. I attempted using a buckle style, but it was unsuccessful. Even after trying straps, the raccoons still managed to get into the cans. These creatures are both cunning and persistent. However, once I started using this product, I noticed the cans tipped over, but the raccoons couldn't access the contents. Over time, they stopped coming altogether. Success.
My home is located in the suburbs, where the common wildlife issues include deer, raccoons, skunks, and foxes. Observing the raccoons expertly tipping over and searching through the trash cans, and the foxes and skunks taking advantage afterwards, made it clear that these lid locks were essential.
Our intelligent rural raccoons were constantly spreading garbage around, tipping over the cans at will, causing the lids to come off and making it effortless for them to access the trash. They were also quite skilled at removing the lids without tipping over the cans. I was eager to put an end to this behavior as it is extremely frustrating and time-consuming to clean up after them. The devices are very effective!!! Once they are simply placed on the cans, they remain in place even when we transport the cans to the county dump. We are extremely pleased with this purchase and highly recommend it!
These straps are excellent and incredibly easy to use. I purchased them for the garbage cans used by my tenants to simplify my life by avoiding having to pick up torn bags. Surprisingly, people are not even using the cans with the straps. I think it's due to the clever lock beneath the buckle that securely keeps them closed. I will continue to try! These straps are truly valuable, if only people could understand how to use them.
Our home is located in a highly windy area by the bay. Despite our trash barrel lids being tightly secured, they tend to come off during strong winds. This issue was resolved by using bungee cords, which can be easily clipped in the center of the lid with one hand. Reclipping, however, requires the use of both hands. It would be appreciated if the garbage collector could take the time to reclip the lids instead of leaving them on the ground.
